Dear Ms. Dumanis,
I am an attorney and have worked in the family law area since 1976 when I was still in law school. I despair at how bad our system was then and how much worse it has gotten. When I first started practicing, I could get court orders that abusive men and sexual molesters had no contact with their child victims. Now those men get custody and the protective mothers are given no contact.
The backlash against disclosure of the very high levels of physical and sexual abuse in families is wide and deep. Because of that, I am filing a case with the Inter American Commission on Human Rights against the policy and practice in U.S. family courts of giving custody or unsupervised visitation to molesters and abusers. We have tried everything in this country - education, litigation, legislation, advocacy - nothing has worked. It has only gotten worse putting more and more children in direct danger. I urge you to take Damon's reporting seriously and protect him.
Thank you.

Dear DA Dumanis, Albany Area NOW became aware of The Saving Damon effort at the 4th Annual Battered Mothers Custody Conference. Our chapter of NOW, the second oldest civil rights organization in America was thoroughly appalled & outraged at the details of this case. Our chapter of NOW stands to applaud the courage of Cindy, a mother brave enough to look injustice, alleged corruption, and systemic failures squarely in the face and through her actions, state to those responsible for the crimes against humanity committed against her children, "NO MORE!"
All mothers hold the universal right and responsibility to protect their children from abuse. Even a fleeting thought and/or mention of lodging any type of charges, whatsoever against Cindy for her fulfillment of her maternal, universal rights and responsibilities to her own children is unconscionable, undemocratic and un-American. Cindy in the words of Robert Frost, "Took the Road less traveled by and made that made all the difference."
Familial sexual terrorists are the most heinous, destructive form of sexual predators in our society. Familial sexual predatory behavior is a silent epidemic in our country and all across our globe. This silent epidemic continues, due to the victim's level of shame, self loathing, basically non existent self esteem, and the mistaken belief usually held in the victim's mind of personal responsibility associated with the crime of familial sexual terrorism perpetrated against themselves by members of their own family.
The statistic is 1 in 3 females and 1 in 5 males, 20% of our children will be sexually preyed upon before they reach their l8th year. This statistic begs the societal question," Exactly who does our society think is committing these crimes against our most vulnerable, innocent citizens, our children?" When a child comes forward with an allegation of sexual crimes perpetrated against themselves by a "stranger", i.e., teacher, coach, boy scout leader, priest, etc., society is outraged and rarely if ever questions the veracity of the child. We as a society believe the child. Apparently our society collectively acquires amnesia, when they forget those accused of these types of "stranger" sexual crimes against children are also fathers, uncles, and cousins.
On average a sexual predator over a lifetime has victimized over 100 children. Our society is in need of truly opening its' collective mind and eyes to the truth of the identity of the sexual predators and the identity of their victims. The majority of sexual predators in our society are the fathers, brothers, uncles, and cousins who prey upon their own daughters, sons, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The truth of Cindy's and her children's case is testimony to this fact which our society chooses to deny. The multi-generational dysfunctional cycle of familial sexual predatory behavior must be extinguished during our generation. Cindy and her children deserve and constitutionally are guaranteed Equal Protection Under the Law. Bonnie, you hold in your hands the keys to returning Cindy and her children from their failure of justice induced exile and reuniting Cindy and her children with their family. The keys you hold also unlock the door to the long overdue justice and protection previously denied Cindy and her children by certain actors within the San Diego County Justice System.
Albany Area NOW encourages you to place the key in the door, unlock the door, and fling wide open the door to justice for Cindy, her children, and all the other silent survivors of familial sexual terrorists within your jurisdiction. DA Dumanis, please help us to shift the belief paradigm within our society as to the true identity of the majority of sexual predators and the truth regarding the identity of whom these humanity destroying criminals actually prey upon, THEIR OWN FAMILY MEMBERS!
Albany Area NOW emphatically urges the San Diego County District Attorney's office to bring its' full weight and power to the prosecution of Damon's father for his crimes perpetrated against his own children. NO PLEA BARGAINS! NO DEALS! Hold this man fully accountable under the law as an example for all of America to see critical mass is here, the paradigm shift occurred and "OUR AMERICAN SOCIETY AND JUSTICE SYSTEM SHALL NO LONGER TOLERATE THE FELONIOUS, HEINOUS, CHILDHOOD INNOCENCE, AND HUMANITY DESTROYING, CRIME OF FAMILIAL SEXUAL PEDOPHILIA"

Re: Damon M....
District Attorney Dumanis,
California National Organization for Women is writing to request that you enforce Damon's right to trial and basic right to live free of abuse, by prosecuting his named abuser, his father. Damon has repeatedly made credible disclosures to mandatory reporters and others of the sexual and emotional abuse he has suffered at the hands of his father, and still the perpetrator of his alleged crimes has gone unpunished. You are making progress in your office, as the first woman to be DA of San Diego, and your staff is impressively diverse and clearly talented. We hope that you will recognize the accusation of crimes committed against this child are serious, and conduct a full investigation and prosecution.
CA NOW is the state's largest women's rights organization. CA NOW has been researching and documenting the regular denial of due process of children and protective mothers when sexual abuse is alleged, and the failure of the courts to protect children from their sexual abusers. We recognize this is a gross flaw in the justice system, and a pattern of abuse against women and their children.
Your office is "dedicated to the pursuit of truth, justice and protection of the innocent." We hope that you will do everything in your power to see that the truth is told, justice is served and the innocent are protected in this case.

Dear Ms. Dumanis,
We are writing to ask you to help Damon, a now 11-year-old boy who reported sexual abuse by his father to many professionals. He was not believed by court personnel, despite corroboration and witnesses. When Family Court placed him back in the custody of his abuser, his mother protected him as best she could. She went into hiding.
It is unfortunately common in the California court system for the court and related professionals to ignore or minimize child sexual abuse, domestic violence and substance abuse in custody cases. Children are being taken from safe, nurturing parents and placed with molesters, registered sex offenders, batterers, and even murderers based on professional opinions. Geraldine Stahly, Ph.D., professor at Cal State, San Bernardino, has found through her research that children are frequently endangered by risky and inexplicable family court decisions. Custody is changed in nearly 69.7% of such California cases after the protective parent has brought issues such as child abuse, domestic violence, criminal conduct, or substance abuse to the court's attention. In 96.6% of cases, evidence of child abuse was ignored, minimized, or refuted in family court. Despite being in the custody of the abusers, the children continue to report abuse in 73.9% of cases, but nothing is done to protect them. The perpetrators are hardly ever prosecuted.
Damon's relatives will be meeting with you soon to discuss his need for a jury trial and protection from the abuser. A friend who knows you tells me you are as concerned as we are about the well-being of children. We urge you to consider helping this suffering child so that he and his mother can live a peaceful, normal life without fear.
Sincerely, Connie Valentine

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,
I'M WRITING TODAY FROM CHINA WHERE I'M ON A BUSINESS TRIP BUT HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THE ONGOING ABUSE BY COURTS AND ATTORNEYS IN THE ALBANY AREA FOR YEARS HAVING CLOSELY FOLLOWED A SIMILAR ONGOING CASE. IT IS TIME TO STOP THE ABUSE OF THE COURT SYSTEM BY ABUSIVE FATHERS, PLAYING THE FATHER'S RIGHTS CARDS, IN ORDER TO PROTECT THEIR OWN HIDES AND CONTINUE TO SEXUALLY ABUSE THEIR OWN CHILDREN.
IF WE DO NOT STOP THIS ONGOING AND APPARENTLY PERVASIVE PATTERN OF ABUSE OF THE COURTS BY CLEVER ATTORNEYS, CORRUPT JUDGES AND EVEN MORE CORRUPT COURT APPOINTED "GUARDIANS," THESE CHILDREN WILL NEVER GET THE PROTECTION AND COUNSELING THEY NEED AND WILL BE THE NEXT GENERATION OF ABUSERS, RAPISTS, BATTERERS AND WIFE MURDERERS.
EVERY PSYCHOLOGIST AND CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE WORKER KNOWS WHAT THE LONG TERM EFFECTS OF THIS HEINOUS CRIME DOES TO CHILDREN, AND THE COST TO SOCIETY IS HORRIFIC. IT'S NOT JUST A PRIVATE AFFAIR. IT AFFECTS US ALL.
I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO SERIOUSLY LOOK INTO THE INSIDIOUS MISUSE AND CORRUPTION IN THE NEW YORK STATE COURTS AND SEND A MESSAGE VIA ARREST AND PROSECUTION OF ALL PERSONS INVOLVED IN PERPETRATING CORRUPTION AND ABUSE OF THE COURTS DESIGNED TO PROTECT CHILDREN IMMEDIATELY, AND VERY POSSIBILY WE CAN REDUCE THE PERVASIVE EFFECTS OF SEXUAL AND PARENTAL ABUSE THAT FILLS OUR COURTS, JAILS AND CITIES WITH VICTIMS WHO MORE OFTEN THAN NOT BECOME THE NEXT GENERATION OF PERPETRATORS OF THESE HEINOUS CRIMES AGAINST OUR CHILDREN AND HUMANITY.
THANK YOU FOR TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY.
